How we properly clean your air system: |
Following is an overview of the four steps required to clean and decontaminate a residential furnace/air conditioner and it's associated duct system:
|
Step 1 |
- The system is tested for proper operation, then the power is disconnected for safety purposes;
- The interior of the furnace/air conditioner is vacuumed;
- The cooling coils are cleaned with a HEPA vacuum and a coil cleaner;
- The blower is cleaned;
- An automist fogger is used to decontaminate the interior surfaces with Sporicidin, an EPA registered biocide.
|
Step 2 |
- The wall, ceiling and floor registers are removed;
- Registers are washed with Dynamite cleaner and rinsed;
- The supply duct openings are blocked;
- The filter is placed in a plastic bag and installed in the return to block the air flow.
|
Step 3 |
- A negative air machine is attached to the system, either at a duct opening or the furnace plenum with an adapter plate;
- A power brush will aggressively remove duct debris or an air powered tool can be used to remove duct debris more gently;
- Ducts will be decontaminated with Sporicidin, Soot Set sealant, and an Odor Kill deodorizer.
|
Step 4 |
- *The bagged filter from the return should be replaced with an electrostatic air filter;
- The plugs are removed and the registers reinstalled;
- *Solid Odor Kill should be placed in he return to control odors for up to 3 months.
- The power to the system will be reconnected and the system tested to verify that everything is working properly.
